Meditation as a word is often overused and the actual practice of meditation is underutilized. Meditation, however, is actually a direct means of becoming fully integrated with one’s truest self. Join Dr. Cori for her morning meditation this Wellness Wednesday.

This may sound kind of weird, but sometimes I wish I had a job that had a set schedule. Before you clutch your pearls, let me explain a bit. When you work a set schedule you have to be somewhere at a certain time and you leave at a certain time. You might even have to eat lunch at a certain time (now that might get on my nerves, it seems weird to be told when to eat…). Now full disclosure, I haven’t had a job with a set schedule since my residency and even then I always worked past my set hours, but having a set schedule can create discipline and increase productivity. Because I don’t often work set hours due to my travel schedule, work can bleed into more hours than what’s necessary.
Cue the party music, I graduated! I’m sure you wondering what I could have possibly been in school for, so let me not leave you in suspense any longer….I just completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training. And trust me it was a family affair! There was studying multiple books on yoga history and philosophy, yoga practice, entire weekends at the studio, and practice teaching. My husband and my son’s teacher have truly been troopers helping me with the little one over these last 9 months.
Moms often ask me about a morning or evening routine and I immediately think of meditation. A meditation practice should be an essential part of either daily routine. However, many women tell me they don’t know how to meditate. And honestly when I started, I didn’t either. Meditation used to look like this for me:
