It’s Mother’s Day weekend! This is a great time to celebrate all the women who inspire you to reach your highest potential and that includes celebrating you too, because I know you do some amazing things. The truth is though, no matter who we are or what challenges may come our way, we are all connected as women, moms, and the love we have for our own mothers.
If you stop just for a minute to consider all the women who have contributed to the woman that you have become, I know that list is filled with teachers, counselors, women from church, mentors, and one special Mom…
Oh, it if wasn’t for mom…
When I went to visit my mom for Mother’s Day, I shared something with her, that I was really nervous about. In fact, I almost wasn’t going to tell her, at least not that day anyway. But I did and she looked at me, like no big deal…She said to me what she has said a million times before, “You can do anything you want Cori. Whatever you dream up, you will have.” Even still it brings tears to my eyes as I am typing this. My mother has so much faith in me, always has…Even more than I have in myself. I only hope that I can be that fearless for my own son. That I can look at him with conviction and say, “whatever you want, you will have.”
And not “can have”. There’s a difference…My mom always uses “will have”, speaking as if I had already attained it. When life gets hard, I can still look to my mom for encouragement, for strength, for unwavering discipline.
Aside from my mom, I want to share a few quotes with you from women I admire. These particular quotes are critically important for where I am in my life right now…I hope they inspire you too.
“You can waste your lives drawing lines. Or you can live your life crossing them.” –Shonda Rhimes
“Forget about the fast lane. If you really want to fly, just harness your power to your passion.” –Oprah Winfrey
Who do you admire? Is there a woman in your life that you turn to when you’re not sure how you’re going to make it work? I’d love to hear about her. Please reply and share your story.
Have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend!
Talk soon,
